About us
SpoonAngel Bunting Shop started life in 2011 in my shed! My mum, Norma had recently retired had little interest in a diet of day-time TV – so I suggested that we ’got crafting’ in the back garden.
As well as our (now) trademark bunting, we created flashy patchwork quilts, quirky rag dolls, fancy cushions, posh aprons and snazzy bags.
Fortunately for us, the year after we got going was the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and, as you can imagine, the bunting flew out of the shed and we quickly found ourselves tripping over rolls of fabric – as well as each other! Luckily we stumbled across a local business unit, fitted it out with a humongous bepoke cutting table, bought a couple of industrial sewing machines (Brenda – quickly followed by Sall – both still with us!) and moved production ‘up a gear’.
It remains very much a family business: my husband oversees the bookkeeping, my daughter and son have all worked for the company – and my sister-in-law, Lisa (admin and packing) and Aunty Susan are still with us. We were spoilt for a while, by having Linda (an exceptional dressmaker and machinist) – however we now have Tracy, our flag cutter.
Since our humble beginnings we have provided quality, hand-made bunting for thousands of occasions, events and locations – including weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, public holidays and celebrations, garden parties, fetes, caravans, beach huts, bell tents and yurts, shops, music festivals and concerts, film and TV sets. We are very versatile!
Our distinctive bunting has appeared on Deal or No Deal, Lewes, The Misfits and a number of TV advertisements. It has graced the windows of Hamleys toy shop and Neals Yard. It has adorned the streets during a leg of a Mumford & Sons tour, decorated Jamie Olivers Feastaval and we provided thousands of metres to villages in Yorkshire for The Tour de France.
As well as our wide range of core products we also offer a bespoke service. We have access to lots of fabrics and are confident that whatever you have in mind we can deliver it! We can also help develop your ideas. Do get in touch – you’ll be pleased that you did.
